Our 3 Cs philosophy is a part of everything we do. Our goal for every girl is to gain confidence in herself and competence in a variety of skills, while being a part of a physically and emotionally safe community. All of this is accomplished in an energetic, positive atmosphere charged with Wico Spirit!
Campers benefit from first-rate instruction and encouragement on the field and off. We pride ourselves on a program that caters to all abilities and meets each child’s needs.
In addition to the group lessons which are a part of the regular schedule, campers may sign up for separate private lessons in gymnastics, tennis and soccer.
Cooking is one of Wico’s most popular activities! Girls enjoy developing their skills and then sampling what they make! In each class, girls work on preparation including knife skills, measuring and mixing. They are encouraged to be creative, and have the opportunity to edit recipes when appropriate. We publish a cookbook, so that campers may reproduce recipes when they get home.
We offer a variety of classes in both dance and fitness. Dance classes culminate in our end-of-the-session dance show! Our fitness program meets the needs of all campers regardless of ability or experience.
Camp Wicosuta’s outdoor adventure program, called “Wico Extreme,” offers campers on-and off-site programming and opportunities for both team building and personal challenge. Our philosophy regarding Extreme is “challenge by choice,” which encourages campers to go beyond their self-set limits.
Horseback Riding
This on-site optional program exposes campers at a variety of levels to English-style horseback riding. In advance of camp, campers sign up for either four or nine 50-minute private lessons. Campers become comfortable in the stable learning how to groom and handle the horses.
Ice Skating
Campers sign up in advance to be part of the ice skating program. Participants in the program have three opportunities to skate over the summer. Each two-hour session consists of a lesson and a free skate. The ice skating program is hosted at Plymouth State University, located 20 minutes away from camp.
Campers who participate in theatre may choose to do so on stage or backstage. Offerings – including drama classes, set design and participation in a musical production – underscore the idea that every camper’s role is important.
Personal expression is important to us, as is exposure! Campers may be exposed to up to six different Visual Arts offerings each summer. Visual Arts staff members are skilled in their medium and are able to instruct campers at various skill levels.
Pool Activities
Wicosuta’s heated pool is centrally located and always busy! Daily swim lessons, based on the American Red Cross’ Learn to Swim program, are mandatory for girls who have completed Grades 1-4. We use the pool in the evening, as well, to host age-group pool parties!
Waterfront Activities
Located on Newfound Lake, recognized as one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in America, our waterfront boasts a white sand beach with a gradual incline into the water. Girls enjoy the crystal-clear water and being able to see the bottom of the lake from almost any vantage point.

My daughter has attended this camp for 4 years- it is absolutely fantastic! They really do get an entire summer experience in 4 weeks- perfect for us as we also enjoy family travel. She has made some great friends and always comes back more independent and self assured than when she left. I credit the camp experience with giving her the confidence to step away from much of the middle school drama. She can't wait to got back!
KarenMy girls (ages 9 and 11) absolutely adored their first summer at this camp. They got exposure to many new activities (field hockey, lacrosse) but they also got to participate in activities they already enjoy (theatre, crafts, soccer's swimming). The additional programming (evening activities, day trips) was energized and creative (crazy hat night, twin night, dance marathon, etc). The facilities were very impressive - ...
CarlynMy daughter has had many of her best days at Wicosuta! My city kid has loved her chance to explore the outdoors (whether through challenge courses, overnights, hikes, or time in the lake) and she has made enduring friendships in her (so far) three summers at camp. Though the camp has meals that pass her exacting standards and exciting all camp activities, like Challenge Cup (Olympics like competition), ...
